Alter Ego Photography
Kindler turns inward in this work which initially appears to be a reflection of her but ultimately takes on a life of its own. Kindler asks us to consider the idea of separate entities within the self as she places a miniature manikin, painted to look like a caricature of herself, into diverse situations. "Mini-me," as the artist refers to her, is placed in many different environments that are connected in some way with the artist's life. Through photography, mixed media, two and three dimensional works and sculptural installations, Kindler explores fear, borbidden sexuality, aging, letting go, transcendence and the buden of artistic expectations in refreshing and often-times humorous light. Some might say that this work is narcissistic, but the universality of the ideas and emotions presented bring a new language forward that allows us all to consider and laugh at ourselves. This is an ongoing body of work.
